CHRISTMAS PAST

There is silence
Where once there were children playing
The sky is cloudy and seems like it’s graying

We are thrown a bone
To chew on and reflect
Should we take up this fight?
We cannot do it alone.

Christmas is so close
And you are not home
And our gingerbread house
It seems to fall every year
But what a treat to eat and to laugh

My little tree has been put up
No decorations so it’s bare.

Christmas tree parties

There will be none this year.
Just a number for another day lost,
We can only shed a tear.

Words on a page,
To remember Christmases’ Past.
No stockings will be hung
And Santa won’t be visiting this year.
Even he will remember
There used to be children here

No children laughing
Just another day to sleep in
Unlike last year when we were up at 5
And no turkey this year
We can never win.

Will you remember like we just did?
And look in the back of your mind
To remember Christmases past
And will you shed a tear too?
You have to remember we will always
LOVE YOU!!

A mother’s love

Whether you are born from the womb
Whether you are brought into the fold
A mother’s love is all you will need.

She will wipe away your tear
She will take away whatever you fear.
She will tuck you in and say a prayer.
She will watch you sleep.
She will worry about where you are.
A mother’s love is always near.

Whether she is with you everyday.
Whether she is just a memory.
Whether she is gone to heaven,
She is with you always in your heart.
That crying in the night,
A mother’s love will always hear.

Whether you are far away,
Or you are with her 24 hours a day.
She will always think of you.
She will always wonder why.
Why she is not with them
Why hasn’t she gotten a call?
A mother’s love will not fall.

Celebrate the days together
They must be cherished.
When a child cries or wants to scream
Or they want that candy for breakfast.
Or they just need that ice cream.
A mother’s love will be there
Whatever the weather.

9/11/01 Remember

I’m sorry

No words can express the way I feel
The day the world stopped
Was it real?
It looked like something out of a movie
What were you doing on that day?
I was walking home from school
It seems like it was yesterday.

A little girl not even 7 years old
For many years looked up
Every time she saw a plane
And said the Twin towers
Why wasn’t it in our power?

Too many questions
Too many tears
My uncle was there that day.
He didn’t want to get in the way
He wept and helped and tidied up
The buildings that were swallowed whole
I will remember as my children do
The day the world changed and safety
Was something new.

My Pain

I wrote this when Katrina hit when a lot of my online friends were in trouble and  when the levies broke.

My Pain.....

Even though I am so far away.
There is a pain in my heart that wants to stay.
People say its the wrath of God
God will protect us and save us from this.
But the clouds opened up and poured down.
Upon the earth the water turned lives into a frown.

There are tears
There is sadness,
Is there hope? Where is our home?
People are crying,
But our family is together!
Will this not erase the pain and the madness?

I want to wrap my arms around the world
And give everyone a great big hug
And tell them everything is going to be okay.

My tears flow like everyone's does
When they turn on the television and see,
The wrath, the heartache and the pain.
Its stuck deep inside and only shows
When I see a child or mother
Crying, what did we do? How could this happen
My children wont awake?

I had to write this to remember
The day the water ran deep
And covered a city 80% deep
Thousands of cities and towns effected
The storm ran amuck it just wanted to leap.
A nightmare awakes you and its not a dream.
I have to remember its called reality.

When life gives you lemons.
Make lemonade!!
There is a positive to this short rambling,
Peace of mind that the world will recover,
But they will never forget
the day the rain poured down.
